Inadequate nutrition and an unhealthy lifestyle, in addition to genetic predisposition, are major contributors to the development of many diseases.

The Indian medical system of Ayurveda emphasizes a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment in an effort to restore the balance between humans and their natural environment.

Here are a few ingredients you probably already have on hand in your kitchens or homes. These remedies are excellent in treating common ailments like a cough, cold, or stomach-ache. However, for chronic and emergency medical conditions like diabetes, arthritis, and skin disorders need proper consultation and medication under the supervision of a physician.

According to Ayurvedic theory, every herb or mineral possesses unique healing properties and can be applied to a wide range of medical conditions. Because they contain beneficial qualities like antibacterial and antioxidant, Ayurvedic herbs, minerals, and the products or cures manufactured from them are frequently suggested for their therapeutic efficacy.

Let Us Dwell on The First One – Fitkari or Alum

In Hindi, alum is referred to as fitkari. It is a naturally occurring salt with several uses. Translucent and whitish in color, this crystal is a mixture of aluminium sulphate and potassium sulphate and has been valued for ages due to its useful properties. "Shubhra," meaning "white" or "clear" in Ayurveda, was the name given to it.

Here Are 5 Benefits of Fitkari Mentioned in Ayurveda

1. As an After-Shave Lotion:

Using Fitkari after a shave helps mend the skin and gives it a healthy sheen, while also helping to staunch the bleeding from any nicks or scrapes that may have occurred. Those over the age of 50, when skin laxity typically develops, can benefit from its natural toning and skin tightening impact.

2. For Bad Breath:

One gram of alum and a pinch of rock salt dissolved in a glass of warm water can be used to treat bad breath. It could make you sick to your stomach and cause nausea and vomiting, so avoid drinking it.

3. For Bleeding Gums, Weak Teeth, And Dental Caries:

Prepare a paste of one gram of alum, a pinch of cinnamon, and some rock salt for gum bleeding, tooth weakness, and dental cavities. Rub this into the gums and then rinse your mouth out. Drinking barley grass juice every day can help with this treatment because of the antioxidants and calcium it contains, both of which aid in the mending of gum tissue.

4. For Nose Bleeds:

When you have a nosebleed, press a cotton ball dipped in cold water and dusted with one gram of fitkari (alum) to the bleeding area for a few seconds. Do not force yourself to breathe via only one nostril.

5. As A Water Purifier:

Alum is used as a water purifier, and it is one of the oldest methods for doing so. Add a little alum to water and all the solid debris will dissolve. When the sediment is removed, the water can be heated to eliminate any remaining bacteria.

The ancient healing system of Ayurveda contains countless undiscovered and underappreciated solutions for common ailments.
